Birthdate: July 8, 1970
Family: At the age of 50, Jodi has never been married. Her parents, Jerry & Sharon, live in uptown Madison, IN, where Jodi resides in the historic downtown area. Her oldest sister, Dianna, is married to Tim Domek and lives in North Vernon, IN, which is only a 30-minute drive. Her other sister, Sherry, is married to Matthew Stewart. They live in Lexington, IN, which is also in Jefferson County. She is the very proud aunt of Connor Stewart who illustrates her books for her.
Education: Jodi earned her B.S. in education from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. She received her Masters of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Career: Teaching. Started teaching in 1996 at Southwestern Elementary located in Hanover, IN. She taught third grade for 24 years before moving to 4th grade.
Writing: Enjoyed writing since high school. Inspired by Patricia Polacco who didn’t publish her first book until she was 41. Decided to self-publish her books to begin rather than devoting a lot of time towards finding a publisher. As a teacher, a lot of spare time for that endeavor was not a wise use of her time.
